Eighty-five years after Loretto Academy first opened its doors to young women from El Paso and Ciudad Juarez, the vision of Mother Praxedes, founder of Loretto Academy, continues to thrive. I am constantly impressed at the academic and spiritual growth in our students during the course of each year, and I am pleased to see that Loretto values of community, faith, justice, and respect bloom in the lives of our graduates. The original dedication and commitment of the Sisters of Loretto to academic excellence and Catholic education is evident in the faculty and staff who uphold these strong traditions.
The Loretto Academy vision stays fresh in part because of the thoughtful integration of academic and spiritual learning in our curriculum.
In one of the highlights of the last academic year, each class, from pre kindergarten to 12th grade, adopted a year-long service-learning project. Service learning brings together academic study and community service and gives the students an awareness of how they can affect positive change in the world around them. Service learning at Loretto Academy is a tool that allows each student to learn from and reflect on the experience of working for change in the community. Our students find their education is enriched and the Loretto values made more meaningful.
Of course, we would not be able to carry on the vision of the Academy without the hard work and financial and moral support of current and former parents and grandparents, alumnae, and community friends.
Loretto's generous support from members of the Loretto family who contribute as volunteers, donors, and supporters
is inspiring. I am grateful to each of you for your enduring commitment.
God’s blessings,
