Welcome, boys and girls, to Loretto Academy
I am the Elementary School principal and a co-member of the Loretto Community. I am part of a long tradition of sisters and co-members who have been and continue to be part of Loretto Academy. The four Loretto values of faith, community, justice and respect are part of everything that goes on within the co-ed PK3 through 5th grade school. All of our students participate in service-learning projects helping groups throughout our El Paso/Juarez communities.
The best kept secret in El Paso is that Loretto Academy has boys in the Elementary.
About half of our certified teachers either have or are working on higher degrees. We are a nurturing and caring Elementary School faith community who continue to set high expectations for the students, academically, spiritually and physically. In February the second through fifth graders take the nationally normed Iowa Tests of Basic Skills. Our students do as well if not better than other students throughout the country who take the same test.
Our daily instruction includes religion with mass once a week. The PK4 through fifth grade classes all have opportunities to be mass ministers. We have small child-oriented classes with parent and family involvement. We focus on developing the whole child, including daily fine arts classes which include art, music, physical education and Spanish) and cross grade level interactions.
We have a before and after school program and offer extracurricular opportunities to participate in First Lego League robotics, band or music lessons and sports.
Some of our Loretto Elementary School traditions include Grandparents’ Day, Donuts for Dad and Muffins for Mom; Las posadas, Christmas and Spring programs, curriculum days, STEM and generations of parents, relatives and siblings who attended Loretto Academy.
